Volunteer Roles

Thrift Store Volunteer
Help customers, organize displays, restocking Shelves, keep the sales floor stocked by moving items from donation center to display shelves. keep the floor clean, and assist in daily shop operations to support local programs.

Donation Specialist
Receive, sort, and inspect donated items for quality. Clean items and process through the clothes. Place the seasonal items in their space. Ensuring only the best goods reach our neighbors.

Administrative Lead
Support our mission through
researching grant opportunities and assisting in preparing grant proposals.
data entry, social services coordination, and fundraising assistance.

Submit Application
Fill out our online volunteer interest form to tell us about your background, skills, and availability. We review applications weekly to find the best match for our current needs.

Orientation & Interview
Meet with our volunteer coordinator for a short orientation. This is your chance to learn about Portland Cares, tour our facilities, and discuss which role feels like the right fit for you.

Onboarding & Training
Once cleared, you'll receive specific training for your chosen area. Whether it's social services or thrift operations, we ensure you have everything you need to start making an impact safely.
