Donate Items for Our Thrift Store
Your donations do more than clear space in your home, they help Portland Cares accepts a wide variety of new and gently used items to help keep our Thrift, Clearance, and Toy areas stocked. From furniture and clothing to household goods, toys, and even vehicles, donated items are turned into funding that supports our community through Social Services programs.
While we gladly accept most items, there are a few things we are unable to take. Please read on the right side.
- Gently used clothing & shoes
- Household goods & kitchenware
- Furniture in good condition
- Books, media, & toys
- Linens & small appliances
- Holiday decor & antiques
- Frames, crafts, & sport items
- Unique & collectable items
- Antiques
- venichles or scooters that still run and a title with it.
Please do not leave donations after hours. We do not provide pick up delivery services, except for official estate sales or church's yard sale in Sumner County .

Monday – Friday: 2nd Friday of Month:
8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Close early at 2:00 PM
Second Saturday of the month:
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Donation Center Hours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS
8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Second Saturday of the month:
8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
However, we kindly request that you refrain from using our facility to dispose of unusable items. Accepting such items creates a financial burden, as we must pay employees to sort and dispose of them, taking up valuable time that could be better spent serving our community.
Our goal is to accept donations that can either be sold in our Thrift Store or distributed through our Assistance Program, provided they are in good, reusable condition. To ensure this, we follow specific guidelines and reserve the right to refuse donations that we cannot sell or use or if we are at total capacity for receiving them.
We are unable to accept the following items:

Stained, broken, or unusable items

Furniture that is ripped, stained, scratched up from pets, exposed springs, or missing cushions

Items that are missing parts or in need of repair

Clothes that are wet or smell of mold, mildew, heavy smoke, urine (human or pet), mothballs, etc.

Mattresses and box springs

TVs that are older than 2 years old

Encyclopedias, pornographic or distasteful books
-
Items that have been stored in barns or storage buildings for excessive amounts of time and are soiled.

Items that are bug-ridden, dust-filled, covered with spider webs or animal feces

Computers, printers, and fax machines
